Dr. James F. Moore
Former superintendent and principal

James F. Moore, 72, of Chicago, died Friday.

A funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Barnabas Church in Chicago.

Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Thompson and Kuenster Funeral Home in Oak Lawn.

Dr. Moore was born April 12, 1929. He was a 38-year veteran of the Chicago Public Schools system. In his tenure, he served as an elementary teacher and assistant principal. He was also principal of Morgan Park High School before becoming superintendent of School District 18, where he served until 1989. One of Dr. Moore's major accomplishments was creating the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences as well as establishing the Morgan Park High School Catholic Youth Ministry Center.

Dr. Moore is survived by wife, Clare; sons Jeff Moore, Jerry Moore and Kevin Moore; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morgan Park High School Youth Ministry, 1825 W. Monterey, Chicago, or to the Beverly Center for Infant Welfare, 1802 W. 103rd St., Chicago.
